The Race
First sailed in 1925, the Transpac-Tahiti is one of the longest ocean races in the world, at 3,570 nautical miles. It has been held just 12 times in its 95-year history, the last time in 2012. Over nearly a century, just 72 boats have participated in this demanding but exhilarating event.
In May 2020, Sensei will be among the competitors that create a new chapter in history of this legendary race. She will depart from Los Angeles on May 28 for a voyage estimated at 21 to 28 days.
On board will be the captain, Chris Mellor, navigator, Neal Holmlund, and six paying crew members.
